Transport Fever 2 gets cross-platform mod support

This autumn, the upcoming game update will bring many great new features for PC and console players. In addition to the expanded modding support, there are many other improvements to make building easier and even more fun in the future.

The most prominent feature of the Autumn Update is the new, fully integrated mod browser, which is available to all players on Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, Mac AppStore, PlayStation® 5 and Xbox Series X|S. With the mod browser, it is possible to browse through the extensive range of mods from the community directly in the game, subscribe to your favorites and then use them in the game. In order for non-Steam players to also benefit from the mod browser, the browser not only supports the Steam-exclusive workshop, but also the platform from the creators of ModDB. This collaboration allows us to fulfill the most common wish of console players.

To make modding easier, the modding tools will also receive useful additions with the upcoming Autumn Update. We are already supporting dedicated modders in transferring their content to the new platform and, if possible, preparing it for the console version. Interested modders can contact us if they want to make their mods available to all players.

In addition to mod support, improved road traffic is a key feature. Thanks to the revised simulation, cars will be better distributed on multi-lane roads and bypasses, instead of having to queue through the middle of the city. To make it easier to build these roads, the construction tools will be improved. For example, it will be possible to select existing bridges and tunnels and change their type after they were built, stations and depots will automatically align themselves with the road and when placing roads and tracks, help lines will support you in building exact angles.

After five years of active development with numerous free updates, the Autumn Update will be the last major update for Transport Fever 2. After that there is something new and great in the pipeline.

  2. Hello there, would like to know if the mods are only available for Xbox Series X/S as I have an Xbox One but still would like to enjoy the mods?

    Kind Regards.

  3. Will all mods be supported or will there be restrictions?
I know for example that the cross platform mods for cities skylines 2 only includes assets and not code mods.
Does this include custom maps as well? Assuming of course that they aren’t using experimental map sizes.

    • Hi Ewan, there will be certain restrictions for mods on console. Sharing of maps within the console version will also become available. Regards, Martin

  7. Hello! I have a wish for the development of the game: the fact is that if the bus stop is located on a four-lane or six-lane road and if the buses need to turn around, they have to do it through neighboring roads, bypassing the city block, that is, instead of one turn (to turn around) they make 4 turns, because, according to traffic regulations, buses cannot turn around from the extreme right lane (they drive on it all the time). Is there a way to make buses automatically move to the leftmost lane before turning around in order to have this opportunity?
It is also possible that the buses in the game at the moment do not have the ability to turn around on wide roads at all. Please make this possible)

  8. Going from A to B, I would catch the first available bus or tram. In the game, the sims are too dumb to do that and they wait for the line they planned instead. Together with difficult street building and performance, this is pretty high on my list. Fingers are crossed.
