  1. Actually I hope you can have the ability to turn off any map editing features, for example the bulldozing of roads helped us to terraform the terrain to give us the levels we want in areas where we want to place buildings. Though if you can do geometric shapes terraforming tools along with the paintbrush like freehand terraforming tools that will be an awesome addition to the map editing at any time goal.

I hope you will have the layers activatable? Navigable waters, Speed limits, Contour lines in map editing as well?
Will we have Mega map sizes for TF2? Also can we get the background image that’s behind the map editable as well, many I would believe have dreamed of having a train set on a table look for Transport Fever. lol I know I do.

Thanks Tom for that awesome progress update. I am so looking forward to applying for Beta Testing when it is at that stage. Please tell the team for me to keep up the great work! We love you!

  3. Englisch?I Warum nur Englisch? Nein, echt jetzt. Ich finde es echt total daneben. Schade.

        • You’re absolutely right! Should’ve been Chinese, with all those asian trains in it! Schade!

      • I could say the same thing about other games! Why English? Why German? Why Polish? What about Czech language? Our country is next to yours and we also have a really big „footprint“ in game industry… why do we have translate games ourselves?

    • really dude? this is a game for everyone on the whole planet not just for german speakers… omg I can’t believe how insulted are you that they didin’t made a german video… let me tel you something, if this was only for you this company woulden’t get this far to make a beautiful game just like this… beside english is the most spoken language in the world… this is the beauty of it that here on this forum are people all over the world who share opinions about the game in ENGLISH not in their own language an it is awesome to know another language beside your own… learn something new and get out of your bubble dude! this attitude won’t get you far…. trust me on this, (research world war II)
P.S. I’m not english or a native english speaker 😉

      (i dont speak german)

  4. Hallo Team.

  6. I the visuals are wonderful and the functionality looks awesome.

I really wished that Urban Games would embrace more promotional / community-focused content in English. Our German friends have access to to more first-hand information and I’m jealous. 🙂

  7. When I saw that canyon, I imagined trains snaking up the side while ships floated on by down below. of course, they all had Colonel Failure’s bulldozer logo on them! The Colonel already promised to do a let’s play series on TpF2. Please make sure you remember to send him a copy as soon as you are ready for that kind of stuff. Of course, you will probably not allow him to show everything at first -NDA- but we understand.

  8. Please please please make a gameplay like railroad tycoon 3 – best tycoon game ever made! Trading stocks, getting bonds and doing hostile take overs. The economy engine.. i dont particular like trains, but i like tycoon games and this one is the best.

  9. Impressive, beautiful with more texture and vegetation variations then TpF1, but I seem notice the same geographical limitation as in TpF1, as if the same terrain-engine has been used:
    – water level seems fixed at sea level including rivers, and weird lake patterns. Will rivers and lakes at higher altitudes be possible?
    – mountains seem again limited to a few hundreds meters? No Alps, Andes or Himalaya mountains with never ending climbs?
But anyway I’m looking forward with great anticipation. And really like the enhanced interactions posibilities concerning the terrain, city placement, road connections and ground cover.

  10. Dear Team,
this looks really amazing, I think you are going in the right direction. I can already imagine myself playing more with the environment itself than with transport infrastructure. Inspired by other comments, I would like to add that having snow from certain altitude, or a complete cold environment would be really cool, especially for those of us who love ice and snow.
Additionally, having rivers/streams at different altitudes would be amazing, imagine creating a waterfall, or on grand scale a Panama Canal.
Keep going with the great work, looking forward to Q419

  11. Hi Tom & Crew
Thank you for making TF1 und jetzt auch TF2, (oops schon wieder international)
Some minor improvements I would like to see implemented in TF2 if possible:

    1. please make sure the humans don’t walk straight through objects and even through each other.
some even float through the air crossing station platform stairways as this was the most normal thing in the world.
Also they walk with their feet sank into the pavement. Never managed this myself.
If you cannot correct this, please allow for more medical centers in the big towns so that those wounded by this inexplicable behaviours can be treated well :o)

2: It looks like the persons all over the scene have severe muscle pains judged by the way the stand and walk :o) Wow, this would be an excellent location for physiotherapists, but it’s hard to get those because most (Dutch) physiotherapist work in Switzerland because they pay so well in that country.
2 and a half: It seems that C & A are the only clothing shops in the game, even worse, they only sell a few different sets of clothing, which results in most people walking around in the same clothing. (you could get C & A to sponsor your project, by financing the 3D human model developments, presenting their clothing line :o)

3: I like driving around in first person mode with trains, just doing nothing and enjoying the landscape and the beautiful weather sky and all the (erhm) amazing tracks I’ve built, so cool. What I am missing is who or what is getting loaded or unloaded and what is actually on the train. Could you include that on the bottom status line?

4: I am incredibly annoyed and super angry (yIv ‚ej super QeH ‚e‘ ‚oHbe‘ mughmeH pa‘ tlhIngan!) that the video comments were not in the Klingon Language! How could you forget this!). We are risking an invasion now. They don’t come by train btw.

5: What about implementing traffic (train) collisions?

6: Some passengers of my airline did not really appreciate the sensation of flying straight through mountains. In spite of the aeroplanes being somehow resistant to this bold moves and seem to remain undamaged, it all gets very dark and it becomes extremely noisy in the cabin. In some cases even the drinks fell off the tables. Please plan the approach and takeoff trajectory more carefully, even if it would delay the flight schedules. Thank you in advance.

7: Is it a possible game option to disable the degraded look of the vehicles when they get older? Note that most companies keep their transports material in a good visual state even to the point that replacement becomes necessary.

I would like to know if the graphics and the game logic itself of TF2 need faster hardware or better graphic cards? (I hope this is not the case: currently I am running with a NvidiaGT 1030 on an I5 of about 5 years ago and TF1 runs fine.)

Thank you again, looking forward to TF2

    • LOL! I applaud you sir! for doing this and I suppose you are a native german speaker? this here should be a lesson for all nationalist german speakers… my point is, lets just in the virtual world forget about borders, national pride and other stuff like this witch seams a lot of users are so attached to it. the joke with the klingon language is so very well put, hope the targeted users get it 🙂 once again you have my respect… I’m not a native english speaker, I’m from europe and I consider my self a citizen of the world. And I think it is a form of RESPECT AND COMMON SENSE to use the international common spoke language on any forum.

      • Thank you, I share your opinion. Originally being from The Netherlands, somewhere along the North Sea coast, I’m not a native German speaker, but for smaller countries like NL,B,DK, CH, etc. speaking more languages is more or less essential. Of course, there’s a limit to all this. It is nearly impossible (for me at least) to speak all the important languages in the world, like (some, in arbitrary order) Russian, Chinese (one of the biggest) , Spanish, French, Arabic, but the more one learns the better people will understand each other. That’s what we all know.
Games and Internet could bring people globally together in spite of some that don’t desire this.
(but I’ll stop here, because this is not a language/political forum, somehow I’ve got carried away :o)

      • I think the pb is the official fan site of the game is done in German, so many Germans think they are official and ignore the fact the game is done in English also. This also stops players from other countries to be active in the fan site.

  12. I really hope you adjust the time aspect, as you have it now a day is one second, a train gains 1mph every second so it takes 2 months to reach 60mph. Lets try to get some sense of reality, what’s the rush? slow down and enjoy.

  13. oohhhhh, I’m realy looking forwared to this looks fantastic I think I missed something though did he say we could build tunnels under the water level now ie: like the channel tunnel for example.

  15. Recently YouTube has a subtitle generation function with translation function. Since Tom speaks politely in the video letter, it can be viewed in multi-language subtitles.
The theme this time is „return to nature“ ?

My hope is the design of urban space, so I want to be able to construct underground space and elevated artificial ground.
If that is an impossible desire, I would like to have the ability to mask the ground or buildings to edit the track underground or above the bridge.

  16. Moving trees? No thanks. The static trees in TF1 slows the frame rate enough. When TRAINZ introduced moving trees it was awful. I had to delete as many as possible to allow the game to run. Not everybody has a Rolls Royce computer.

  17. What would be an awesome addition to the game, is to have a real world heightmap importer, or even a simple image based city generator. So, where you import an image of a city and the game tries to generate the roads according to that and add buildings next to them. I think there was something like that for Cities in motion 2. A non-official one, but that worked.

If you can’t/ don’t want to do that, at least give us the possibility to build the cities as we like, in the world builder. So we can build our home cities.

  18. The description of this video sounds interesting, but I seriously don’t have time to watch an entire video, when I could read the text version in a small percentage of the same time (plus I block all of youtube due to google’s tracking). Any chance of presenting a text + images equivalent of what you’re showing in the video? Would be greatly appreciated!

  21. Hallo Tom, liebes UG Team,
Macht weiter so….

  22. I’ve noticed in this TPF2 video that, after removing rail tracks, the landscape is automagically corrected to what it was/should be when no tracks where present on that location? If this auto-landscape-repair is/will be really implemented in TPF2 then could you please make this feature *optional* ? I like to do this landscaping myself (part of my gaming fun) and leave the remaining track traces as a sort of „ah there was a railroad here once“. like in the real world where the remaining elevations/ inclinations are often still visible near cities, telling a sentimental tale of how things once were. etc.

(I now live in Souillac, France near the Dordogne river and make bicycle rides here from time to time. Suddenly I was on a bicycle road going straight through the hilly landscape for more than 4 km. At first I was thinking wow, they really spend much time and money to make this bicycle path straight and without any slope… But in fact, it was a very good idea to make a bicycle path on top of unused nearly flat and linear abandoned railroad trajectory.. )

I have yet another idea (not that my ideas are always good :o) :
In reality, the appearance of railroad tracks that are not used for a longer amount of time changes. Rails become rusty and grass etc. will start to grow on the tracks… This could be done in the game with tracks that are abandoned for a longer time, that is have no lines running over it for a year or so? As soon as a player would like to re-open these abandoned tracks by assigning a train line over it, there could be some costs to renovate these tracks ?

  23. Lost again …have to find out where I was before… so:

Could a „back“ button be implemented?

To bring one back to the previous location.
for example, after responding to a warning that a train
cannot find a route etc. and actually going there to solve the problem.
After that, take me back to where I was with the „Back“button.

Especially with larger maps this would be super convenient!
Perhaps even with multiple back steps that is:
    if at a location D, back > loc. C, back -> loc. B, back -> loc. A

    Thanks.

  24. OMG, and here I am, no 1 in criticism, but always nice to play this game. I hope that the AI can be set to a flexibel state, I mean, that if a train passing through a 4 track station and there is 1 train waiting for people, this other train that wants to pass, waits until that single used platform is free before proceed. This is what I really hate sometimes and, let trains have the possibility to crash into something. This is not possible atm and I am looking foreward to that, kill the opponents…. RHAAAAAAAA lol

  25. Hallo,

  27. this is what is necessarly..
    1) to play fluently (>25fps) at any time progress in the game. (This was the worst problem in TF and TrF – turning the game unplayable in later years)!!!
    2) big maps with big distance between cities. Simply not to spend with train on platforms more time than on the rail in between them.
    3) more realistic cargo/factory behavior

    So think about that…
    Thanx

  29. Please, please, please, please add an option to remove completely/add at-place-of-wish those random rocks! Few of them looks beautiful, but so many look strange and use much of processor resources too!

Anyway, awesome that series go on!
