Development Highlights: Vehicles

We are very happy to release the fourth episode of the popular “Development Highlights” series today. This time we focus on the actual heroes of the game: the vehicles. Not only do we showcase the wide range of vehicles, we also talk about game-play aspects and give insights into the new management tools.

With this episode we finish the “Development Highlights” series. Soon we will announce the release date of Transport Fever 2 and release a game-play video.

For the beta test, we received over 10,000 complete applications, and we would like to thank you for the huge interest. Due to the limited number of participants, unfortunately only a small part could be included in the beta test and we ask for your understanding.

As always, we are very pleased about feedback and thank you for your interest in Transport Fever 2.

  1. Wow this has come a long way from the early days and very far from the original Transport Fever. I love the attention to the details of the vehicles, lighting, skies, and the wonder procedural texturing and flora.

I know this is still in beta and therefore I feel I should mention something things that caught my attention.

    1) The tram pantographs go through the catenary above. I’m not sure if this is a vehicle issue or due to a fixed height of the cat-wire.

    2) The railway track and the roads are not always flat to the terrain surface. This is quite obvious with side views of the roads and railways. What makes this obvious is the deep shadows and lighting that are now in-game. I’m not sure if this is related to the mesh resolution or due to the nature of the spline objects such as tracks and roads, but this should be addressed.

These are minor issues in what appears to be an otherwise terrific program that I look forward to purchasing when it is released.

  2. Please make the game hard enough that we need to put low maintenance in order to make a profit, in a not very well managed company. Otherwise everybody just always keep it at 100% and it’s a useless option.

  3. I would suggest that the rails/catenaries/roads should have the same level of detail as the vehicles do (or at least they definitely need more details than they have in the video)

E.g. 1. The base of the rail can either be ballasted or ballast-less (depending on the era and the speed limit). 2. Rails are not always flat and stick to the ground surface , especially at curving sections the rail surface will bend toward the center of the curve. 3. The distance between catenaries in the video is too short (esp. for high speed railway)

Except for the room for improvement, this game is brilliant! I am really looking forward for its coming release.

  4. Thanks very much for adding stern and bow waves to sailing ships ! ( a personal wish of mine.. 😉 And certainly also for much better looking spinning props and exclusive driver/pilot models. Details on locomotive models look exquisite. Well done!
I’d like to join other posters comments about the catenary poles being too close to eachother.
Thanks again for releasing this fourth episode of Development Highlights. Can’t wait for the real thing !!

  5. I saw Tom’s video with automatic translation.

The UI has changed to a design similar to “CiM2”, but the function has not changed much from the previous work “TransportFever”.

As a new addition, the “Vehicle maintenance level” was casually spoken in the video. Will a bus that has fallen below a certain maintenance level return to the Depot even if passengers are still on board during business hours?
Whether the bus requires maintenance should be determined at the first and last station on the route.

    P. S.
About “Railway signals”. In order to make it easy to run trains with different speeds on one track, please give a three-lamp traffic light such as R-Y-G.
Compared to TrainFever, TransportFever lacks the reality that train deceleration performance is too high.

  6. Wird es eine Möglichkeit geben Fahrpläne einzurichten? Ansonsten fahren dann alle Buse oder Bahnen sinnlos hintereinander her.

Will there be a possibility to set up timetables? Otherwise all buses or trains will run senselessly one after the other. I would like to have at least one spacer between the individual stations. So that an even start of the journey is possible. That would be really nice.
I am looking forward already enormously to your play.

Freue mich jedenfalls schon aufs Release! 🙂

  8. Back in Train Fever, we were able to combine stations – put a bus stop, bus loop, and railway station all into one thing to reduce screen clutter and improve flow to figuring out routes. Will we have this choice in Transport Fever 2?

    • Steam gbt an:

Prozessor: Intel i5-2300 oder AMD FX-6300
      Arbeitsspeicher: 8 GB RAM
Grafik: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 oder AMD Radeon HD 7850, 2 GB VRAM

also erstmal nicht so viel.

  9. Clearly, TF2 has just updated TF1 ???
s it with the same crappy game engine, I could open the game 5 times on my computer without loss of power, but the game was jerky on all 5 sessions !
    Always the same delusional prices?
Will we be able to make lines without the demand for passengers or goods being fucked ?
these problems exist since Train Fever …

  12. I’ll be also very disappointed if this game is not available for MacOS. Indeed, Steam used to display the macos icon but it doesn’t do it anymore. If it’s only available for PC and consoles, I’m not going to buy the game, unfortunately.

  13. First of all thanks for another amazing video! I really enjoyed it! I have a question/suggestion about the use of trains in the new version. Will it also be possible to let trains automatically merge at a station or detach as they sometimes do in real life. Especially EMU’s nowadays to adjust to the demand of passengers on lines, with the other part then driving off the the marshaling yard for temporary storage. This would imply that the train would have to travel on a more time based schedule to be able to let them merge in time or leave the track.

  14. Please please include the ability to upgrade the track to add crosslevel (outer rail is elevated compared to inner one) on turns, thus the train could pass them with higher speed.

  15. Only one complaint which applies to all these transport games.

Never any provision or thought given to UK buyers\players.

With the option to drive on the left hand side.

Other than that, game looks very interesting.

    • Euro Truck Simulator, a driving simulation, takes into account the direction of the traffic and is part of the gameplay of the game.
For a management game, changing the direction of the traffic is complicated and adds nothing to the gameplay, but simply to the scenery

    • Only one complaint which applies to the few left-driving countries in the world.

Never any provision or thought given to foreign tourists\visitors.

With the option to drive on the right hand side.

Please show a little care both for us and yourself: just conform to the rest of the world.
