Transport Fever 2 gets cross-platform mod support
This autumn, the upcoming game update will bring many great new features for PC and console players. In addition to the expanded modding support, there are many other improvements to make building easier and even more fun in the future.
The most prominent feature of the Autumn Update is the new, fully integrated mod browser, which is available to all players on Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, Mac AppStore, PlayStation® 5 and Xbox Series X|S. With the mod browser, it is possible to browse through the extensive range of mods from the community directly in the game, subscribe to your favorites and then use them in the game. In order for non-Steam players to also benefit from the mod browser, the browser not only supports the Steam-exclusive workshop, but also the mod.io platform from the creators of ModDB. This collaboration allows us to fulfill the most common wish of console players.
To make modding easier, the modding tools will also receive useful additions with the upcoming Autumn Update. We are already supporting dedicated modders in transferring their content to the new platform and, if possible, preparing it for the console version. Interested modders can contact us if they want to make their mods available to all players.
In addition to mod support, improved road traffic is a key feature. Thanks to the revised simulation, cars will be better distributed on multi-lane roads and bypasses, instead of having to queue through the middle of the city. To make it easier to build these roads, the construction tools will be improved. For example, it will be possible to select existing bridges and tunnels and change their type after they were built, stations and depots will automatically align themselves with the road and when placing roads and tracks, help lines will support you in building exact angles.
After five years of active development with numerous free updates, the Autumn Update will be the last major update for Transport Fever 2. After that there is something new and great in the pipeline.
The final update for Transport Fever 2 is on its way
It has already been one year since Transport Fever 2 got released on consoles. Time has flown by and we are overwhelmed by the positive response from the community, which has continued to grow on all platforms in recent months. As we are always listening to our players’ feedback, we are excited to release several improvements as part of the last game update in the second half of the year that many of you have been waiting for.
Today we want to give you a glimpse of two usability improvements: One of the new features is the implementation of better snapping options for road construction. This will make the placement of right angles and 45° junctions much easier and more intuitive. Another highlight is the ability to subsequently replace bridges and tunnels that have already been built without having to manually demolish them first. This not only saves time, but also makes it easier to adapt your infrastructure more flexibly to the technical innovations that will become available in the game over time.
The central element of this final update will be the announced cross-platform mod support for PS5, Xbox Series and all PC versions. We have already cleared many technical hurdles and are now in the middle of implementing this long-awaited feature. We look forward to giving many more players easy access to the content you’ve created for Transport Fever 2.
Together we have come a long way and we look forward to continuing the journey with you. Thank you for being part of the Transport Fever community!
