New stability update released

Today we are very happy to release a mainly bug-fixing update which addresses a wide range of issues. Thanks a million for all your reports and feedback!

We will be very hard at work also in future and won’t stop improving Transport Fever 2 (not only bug fixes but also performance optimization, usability and new features). Therefore please don’t be concerned if your specific issue has not yet been solved.

In particular, we are aware of an issue related to RAM usage. The less RAM your system has, the larger maps you play, and the more mods you use, the higher the risk that you experience crashes. We will soon release a next update to address this issue.

We hope that this newest update improves your game experience and wish you a lot of fun with Transport Fever 2.

  1. The problem is that the performance is still terrible. Building oder removing modules from modular train stations takes close to 10seconds per single module!!! For ports its even worse. And the game is terribly laggy when there are more than 10k citizens. And this is a new PC with 4gb Video ram, 16gb ram, an ssd and an i7 processor.

    That would be OK if the game had any new innovative feature compared to tpf1 but it’s basically the same game looking differently.

    erstmal danke für den Patch…muss mir das mal alles in Ruhe angucken. Positiv aufgefallen sind mir aber schonmal die Übersetzungen.
    Generell finde ich die Performance wesentlich besser als noch in TPF!

    Ich habe aber einen Punkt zum Thema Abstürze:
    “Je weniger RAM ein System hat, je größere Karten gespielt werden und je mehr Mods verwendet werden, desto höher ist das Risiko von Abstürzen”
    Also ich habe hier 16GB RAM…das ist meiner Meinung nach NICHT WENIG. Ich spiele auf einer RIESIGEN Karte mit kaum Bebauung oder sonstigen Elementen, habe 200 Mods aktiv, max. 13GB RAM Auslastung.
    Trotzdem stürzt das Spiel ständig (ohne crash_handler Aufruf) ab. Ich sehe da bisher keinen Zusammenhang mit dem RAM (noch min. 3GB frei)…ich kenne aus C:Sl eigentlich auch sprechende Fehlermeldungen wenn sowas passiert.
    Ich habe eher das Gefühl, dass da intern was überläuft und den Prozess killt…

    Gefordert werden 8GB RAM, wenn man auch die umfangreiche Modunterstüzung anpreist, würde ich erwarten das das auch inkl. (min. 100-200) Mods noch gilt…
    Wenn ich um eine WiSim zu spielen 32GB RAM brauche, passt da m. Mn. nach etwas nicht.

  3. Please fix the Model Editor. It’s not user friendly and has some bugs. The biggest one I am annoyed with is, auto refresh. it doesn’t auto refresh until You change the texture to something else then change it back. Please fix this.

    another problem is, why doesn’t whistles work beyond just leaving the depot? I have heard rumors that you plan to release a fix that will make this optional? awesome! How about making it possible to make or drop triggers along the tracks to make the trains blow their whistles?

    another suggestion, PLEASE release English documentation on the model editor. Please! the FBX Import process is not user friendly. The only reason we have mods right now is because of community modders like EAT1963 who made the model converter. We are basically making our mods in TPF1 format and then using his mod converter to make it work with TPF2, this includes new mods. Documentation will help fix this problem.

    Emissives need work as well. Mods do not always show the emissives colors in game but they show up just fine in the model editor. Please fix :/

Game stuttering is my biggest issue with a large map and I have 16gb memory installed – there seemed to be a tipping point where the game just really struggles to cope the more you have going on. I have tried everything suggested to squeeze out more RAM and the game works fine on the slowest speed – but it just takes an age for anything to happen at that pace and is not very engaging. Really looking forward to this being sorted out…..thanks for the latest update – keep up the good work!!

  5. I know I’m about to jinx myself but, so far, I’ve not had any crashes. I have lag on larger maps so I’m happy you’re working on that This update fixes some small but really annoying issues, like the non-bulkdozable tracks. Thanks guys, I k ow the game will just keep getting better and better. Ahem, curved train stations, ahem?

    nach dem Update stürzt das Spiel bei mir sofort nach dem Ladebildschirm ohne Nachricht ab. Was kann ich tun oder woran könnte es liegen?

  7. Ich habe alle sechs Missionen des ersten Kapitels mit Begeisterung gespielt.
    Zweites Kapitel gestartet, Mission 7. Spiel stürzt ab auf den Desktop, ohne jede Fehlermeldung. Fehler ist reproduzierbar, es passiert jedes Mal Manchmal kann ich noch ein paar LKWs zur Lampenfabrik von Monsieur Bleriozt schicken, aber spätestens nach 5 Miniuten Absturz..
    Ich babe KEINE Mods installiert.
    Das habe ich bisher versucht;
    – Steam Fehlerkontrolle – keine Datei fehlerhaft.
    -Grafikeinstellungen auf Minimum (vorher MAximum ohne Probleme) – Keine Änderung

    Gibt es Hoffnung?

    Root cause for the lag when editing modular stations identified by Skye Storme and explained in this video (Thank you for the analysis, Skye!):

    Short version: the number of shipping lines directly influences the lag- It seems the game recalculates all (ship) paths after each edit.

    Hope to see this fixed with the next patch. Thank you and keep up the good work!

    PS: Skye also makes some proposals re improvement of the interface. I second his thoughts.

  9. Do you have the same issue with train speeds? For example I have a 200km/h train which has to slow down to 160km/h in one curve. The problem is, that it slow down much more to for example 125km/h and than it accelerate again. This issue was also in TF1 but it was fixed. Here it is again.

  10. At least you guys can play the game.
    My game boots me after less the 5 minutes. No error report or anything. It used to work fine before. One day it just stopped.
    Pc specs are fine…16GB RAM, windows 10 64bit, Intel i7-3770K CPU and Nvidea Geforce GTX680 (drivers up to date).
    Every other game runs smoothly. This game should NOT have to give me this much troubles.

  11. I can’t play because of crashes most of the time it happens when I zoom in or zoom out rapidly. I play without mods, about 20 vehicles on the map.

  14. Game performance is still terrible.
    After growing 10k citizen, game performance is going to be dramatically slow down.
    I am so sure your team is working to fix the problem, but could you guys tell us what is going with this problem?
    I write my PC spec down below for just in case please read

    RAM 32GB
    CPU core i7 9700k
    GPU RTX2700 with 8GB memory

  15. Sorry aber wenn das Spiel mit RAM 128 GB, CPU i7 9900k, GPU PCIe ASUS GEFORCE RTX 2080 Ti TURBO-RTX2080TI-11G 11GB und das Ganze auch noch auf eine M2 SSD Festplatte installiert ist und es trotzdem ruckelt, dann hat das nichts mit Leistung des PC´s zu tun.
    Keine Mods installiert, kleine Karte mit 2 Städte und 4 Industrien eingestellt und nach eine Weile beginnt das Ruckeln.

    Schade, schade. Leider nicht spielbar.

  16. Meine GoG Version (27767) für Linux füllt gleich mal den RAM von 16GB. Selbst ohne Mods werden DEUTLICH über 8GB benötigt. Thx für den Linuxsupport.

  17. Before this update: 1 crash per day was a lot. Since this update, game crashes or frozen screen 5 to 8x per hour. The game became unplayable with this update. It’s too bad…

  18. It’s not possible, I play on i7 7700K overclocked at 4,6 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080, 16 GB 2400 MHz RAM and I can’t hit 60 fps in a stable way. I need to play on low settings on my configuration, do you think is it normal on a RTX 2080? Anyway, playing on low settings the game still has lots of lags and fps drops. When you build a station and try to configure the modules, fps drop a lot and every operation requires 10 seconds. When you go in a big city fps drop to 25, then come back to 60, then go down again to 15 and so on. There are too many lags that ruin the esperienze. I hope you can fix this soon.
